Judee Williamson and Nicole Walton Marble have been working together as Williamson Walton Marble since 1985. Williamson Walton Marble has specialized in fine 1 and scale handcrafted dollhouse miniatures.
Judee Williamson began making miniatures in 1969 for her four sons and progressed rapidly to making fine artisan miniatures for the collector as her work attracted local and then regional attention. She specialized in design and realistic fabric. She has exhibited at Greenfield Village which is part of the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan, Judees home state. She later lectured about her work at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. Judee began teaching her designs and techniques regionally and then nationally and was asked, in the 1980s to put her knowledge into book form, resulting in 1985, in Judees Beds, about creating many varieties of canopy bed. The book is still in print and available from Williamson Walton Marble and at fine miniature shops.
Nicole Walton Marble began making miniatures from hardwoods in the early 1970s in Southern California, specializing in Windsor chairs, English and American, and their contemporaneous pieces joint stools, swing leg tables, and Welsh dressers.
Judee and Nicole met at a wholesale show in 1985 where Judee was introducing her 3 videos. Judee prefers fabric and design and wanted someone else to do the woodwork. Nicole realized that she could do far more styles of furniture if she worked with someone knowledgeable in fabrics.
The partnership resulted in Williamson Walton Marble Unlimited and began offering a wide variety of furniture designs from country to elegant, Victorian to Deco, contemporary to fantasy, plus roomboxes, houses and framed scenes.
They began producing a series of miniature kits in 1 scale and scale. The original purpose of the kits was to teach how easy gold leafing was as well as offering a line of elegant kits for the DIYers. But that grew into a small line of kits that can be dressed up or dressed down as you please.
